A filler between the structural floor slab and the finish floor.
Same as escutcheon.

According to OSHA:any opening measuring less than 12 in.(30.5 cm) but more than 1 in. (2.5 cm) in its least dimension in any floor,roof,or platform through which materials but not persons may fall,such as a belt hold,pipe opening,or slot opening.
A joint between the sides of boards or planks which are continuous from end to end.
