Max Carline lives in Los Angeles, he works for a large advertising agency, where he is engaged in commercial management. His work involves long business trips to various cities. Max has a strong family.: a beautiful wife with an unusual name Mimi and two children. The young man's life is quite happy and calm. For work, Max often comes to New York, where his close friend Charlie lives. He is a freelance artist and a person with a non-traditional orientation. <br />
One day, a friend tells Max the unpleasant news that doctors have discovered that he has AIDS. This news upsets Max very much, because a terminal illness can take away his best friend at any moment. The man is so shocked by the news that in the near future he commits an act that is unusual for him. Late for his flight, he meets beautiful blonde Karen. She invites him to a concert, and he easily agrees. After the concert, he accompanies Karen and spends the night with her, having cheated on his wife. In the morning, Max returns to his wife and children, hoping that this is just a one-night stand. However, this chance meeting left a mark on the man's soul, he grows cold towards his wife and thinks all the time about a secret meeting with Karen. Max finds himself back in New York one year later, when his friend dies of an illness. There he met a friend's brother, who introduced his wife to him, and she turned out to be Karen...
